It was quite a week last week! At home we replaced a refrigerator with a President’s Day sale, before the tariffs make them more expensive, noticed two small earthquakes in the general area, and had 48 hours of steady rain. I made an indoor picnic for Valentine’s Day, since everything outside was wet, and we hiked to a waterfall in our “backyard”. There was no water flowing because everything has been so dry that the ground absorbed most of the water. The grounds of the park were greener and there was water flowing in creeks, and pools of water for the wildlife. So we’ll take it.
I made a health insurance addition that I have been mulling over for several months and then joined a good group of creatives to make mosaic votive holders! Mine is the top right one in the group photo and is a belated Valentine’s gift for my husband. You can also see it in the grouting stage on the Crafty Girl gallery page. It was so fun to be creating in a group again! January’s fires delayed all of that. We were honored to have a survivor of the Altadena fire with us. It was good to see them out and creating with a friend and also to hear a brief description of the losses they have endured. We celebrated their birthday belatedly, gave gifts and donated to their Go Fund me. One of our group made fresh salad and baked goods for the two day workshop, which was a big help since both workshops ran through lunch time. You can see more of our fun by following Madhouse Mosaic on Instagram. We are grateful for the time together.
We had some wonderful healing time talking about all kinds of things and enjoyed taking broken pieces and making something new, beautiful and whole that spreads light. That is something we all feel is important, especially this year. May your upcoming week be filled with light, light givers and please do your best to make some magic, even if it’s just a tiny bit of magic. Each twinkle helps. I am loving seeing the community that is surfacing after these tragic, unexpected and challenging events. Let’s keep the positive creations going!
