PHOTOGRAPHERS
I have always thought that sharks get a “bad wrap”. I have been diving with nurse sharks, barracuda, black tip sharks and hammerheads. While hammerheads did freak me out the most simply because of their bizarre design, and barracuda got a little close for comfort to my purple sparkly bikini… they are just doing what they do. A local photographer I have gotten to know pretty recently is Jerry Cowart. He creates amazing images of our local area and helps out with documenting events at My Creative Outlet. Really love his eye and I think you will also.

Another photographer I was able to meet in person was Ken Kaminesky. I fell in love with his eye and process for photographing people, places and wildlife. Some people just have it.

CRAFTERS & MAKERS
A wonderful business in Chatsworth, CA is My Creative Outlet on Devonshire. Through them I have met many creatives.

Learning mosaic arts was new to me in 2022-2024 and the best teacher has been Cindy Sleman of Madhousemosaics! You can find her on Instagram @madhousemosaic. I’m looking forward to a stained glass votive class this month.

PAINTERS (2D AND 3D)
A great fine art group is Brentwood Art Center. I am looking forward to taking some classes there. While not nearly as affordable as my beloved My Creative Outlet, they do teach more classes in fine art painting and pottery. So it’s a recommend I can make.

An absolutely delightful light of a person I met when my husband, daughter and I were attending art festivals in Laguna Beach is Lara Eve Studio! She has done delightful things with dimensional paintings and shares my love of all things water and ocean. Her constant optimism, skilled networking through the pandemic and beyond, inspire me and leave me in awe. Keep going Lara!

MISCELLANEOUS FOR NOW:
My favorite caterer is Scott Roeb. Always flavorful and creatively displayed.

My favorite creative teacher of science and wonder is Jason Latimer who created Impossible Science and is changing how we all think (which is a very good thing).
