We wrapped up August after accomplishing A LOT and helping others as well. I started the month by swimming laps before the pools in our area close this fall. Felt great! We are each gifted with a mind and body that we should train each day. It’s too easy to lose either, or both, without the discipline necessary to train them. I’ve not always been good at this, so I am working on that.
Then I got a healthy lunch and started back into my studio to see where things stand.
My mom’s portrait is finally varnished and dry (first time doing oils in several decades) and now I’m looking for a decent framer in our area, because my favorite one retired. I have an acrylic painting well in the works and just need to add all of the 3-D elements. This one will not have a frame, other than the edge of the stretched and painted canvas with 3-D elements. It’s about our wishes for our children and how that does not align with our actions. That one I may post a partial photo of when it is completed. It’s really more of an art gallery piece.
And so now, I am starting a small painting for muralmosaic.com/oceana project. I already have one tile in a finished mural in Colorado. I still need to find time to visit that one – and get a photo with it, pointing to my tile. So I was happy to do another one! You can see the starting photo above and I’ll let you know where it will be installed sometime in 2026. Hopefully I will be able to make that installation ceremony. Connecting with the other artists on installation day would be special.
Once I have this small tile painting done, the acrylic painting wrapped up and my oil painting of my mom framed… the big question is – what will my next project(s) be? That remains to be seen and I have often found that these things reveal themselves if you stay tuned in and open. We will be meeting with some special creatives this weekend so I will let you know more about that in a later post. Nothing like a little suspense to keep you checking out my posts!
It’s a new month so I hope each of you will slow down enough to tune into your intuition and your creative spirit. What do you notice on your daily walks or your commute? Are you on auto pilot or soaking up each sight and sound? I look forward to sharing more positive creations with you soon.
