Hi dear readers.
The goings on recently, with frustration towards men who have thrown their lots into making citizens lives harder, rather than better, has boiled over into the destruction realm. And while the reactions are understandable (and play out throughout human history) they are also dangerous to innocents and unnecessary for the needed message to get through making positive change happen. This is a global event and so it is obvious that passions are running high. It made me want to do a mid-week post, expressing my thoughts on positive and negative energy and how those forces work to change directions.
It had me reaching back into my old sketchbooks to find an appropriate image. I found it on the “frustration pages” I had sketched. When destructive energy arrives it is often shocking and then enraging. If we react immediately, without planning out a strategic response, we largely damage our own direction and energy. While I do not necessarily disagree with the reasons for these decisions I do disagree with the enactment without consideration. If someone destroys everything you have worked for your whole life, the natural reaction is to retaliate in kind. It definitely has an immediately noticeable impact, however, you have now become like the energy you despise. Unaware, unknowingly, you have become the destroyer. Delighting in harm of “the other”. Why not become the eliminator instead? Sound good? Read on.
Someone in my circle noticed that many, many women have started channeling their anger and frustration into crafts or gardening and full time artists (professional and merely full time creatives) have exploded in their productivity of art. What’s happening here? Well first of all, humans who function on the creative spectrum know that gaining control of their own energy first is mandatory. Once that energy is collected and calmed it can focus with the deadly impact of a laser beam. But it has to have been collected and focused first. And when it strikes it is transformative for the direction of humanity – in a positive direction – instead of a dominant direction. These are the energetic forces that cause humans to innovate, not hate. Innovate, not dominate.
Others have commented that we need reactions in all forms to create the change. That might be so, however the destruction to innocents in the line of fire only creates more hatred and destruction doesn’t it? We see this daily with the self described “strong man” description. Dig in with your damage and just do more and more until eventually you “win.” Most of the toxic, abandoned places on our planet have come from this mental energy.
So I don’t think all forms of reactions are useful. I think all creatives need to work on functioning at a higher plane. Notice I did not say “artists” here. I said “creatives”. A higher plane that makes everyone SEE differently. After someone I trusted betrayed that trust, I had an engineer I used to work with say to me, “The reality you experience is based on what you measure. So what exactly is BEST or DAMAGE? Observe the things you take for granted and see how they paint the picture you are experiencing.” Thank you Travis. I just found your actual quote again in one of my notebooks.
We really need to become less reactive, more self healing and then strategic in what we invest in, who we shine spotlights on and how we move through this precious space and time with consideration that HOW we move either impacts those around us, positively or negatively. As I told an old friend, “You have lots of power in this situation, try to use if for good.”
