After two rough nights of interrupted sleep due to high winds, we are waking up grateful in our little corner of Los Angeles County. We still have power, so far, and have no damage that we can see, to our home.
The news is full of several massive wildfires where people have lost their homes, their cars, everything. It’s a level of fire that this region has not experienced before. The L.A. Fire Department is calling for any retired firefighters, over the last 17 years, to please come out of retirement and help. I am sure there will need to be help from outside agencies as well, to finally put these fires out.
While we feel that we chose well in our location for drainage, wildfire prevention and also earthquake risk… no place is immune to the forces of nature. So far however, we have ridden out 2 years of atmospheric rivers and 2 years of high winds. The trees in our particular corner look tired, but not battered. And trust us, they were battered. Air quality is moderate and we’ll see how that advances as these large fires are put out. For now however, we remain inside, working and grateful.
